What is a Pearlite?
Perlite is a naturally occurring volcanic glass that contains water trapped within its structure. When heated rapidly, the water vaporizes and causes the material to expand, forming a lightweight, porous, white to grayish substance known as expanded perlite.
It is widely used due to its excellent thermal insulation, sound absorption, and fire resistance. Common applications include construction materials (e.g., lightweight concrete and insulation), horticulture (as a soil amendment or hydroponic medium), filtration aids, and fillers in paints and plastics. Environmentally friendly and chemically stable, perlite is a safe and versatile industrial material.
