What is a Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)?
Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a thermoplastic polyester synthesized from terephthalic acid and 1,4-butanediol. PBT exhibits excellent mechanical properties, heat resistance, and chemical stability. It also has high wear resistance and resistance to chemicals, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. PBT is widely used in electronics and automotive industries, especially for components that require high insulation and strength.
Furthermore, PBT has excellent moldability and can be processed through injection molding and compression molding. It also has good processability, making it easy to color or add fillers. Due to its excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance, PBT is used in harsh environments, such as in internal components of electronic devices, electrical and electronic parts in automobiles, and parts of household appliances.
PBT is also recognized as an environmentally friendly polymer due to its recyclability. Additionally, it is non-magnetic, and its high insulation and conductivity properties make it suitable for use in electronic devices and wiring materials. Thanks to its properties, PBT is widely applied in electronics, vehicle components, household goods, and even medical devices.
